10/17 YCSO arrested a 13-year-old middle school student after he allegedly posted a school violence threat on social media Tuesday evening. The post said, “Ima shoot the school down get ready for it”. The boy had lived with his father and was a student at Bagdad Middle and High School until September. He then moved to Mesa to live with his mother and attended school there. It’s not clear which school the threat was aimed towards. It was learned the boy had returned to Bagdad and had boarded a school bus Wednesday morning. Bagdad school staff contacted the boy on campus before school began and he stated he was just “screwing around” and had no intention of following through with the threat. The teen was arrested for making terrorist threats and disruption of an educational facility. The teen had no access to guns.
