Tuzigoot National Monument seeing an increase in illegal activity

Officials at Tuzigoot National Monument are asking the public to remain on established trails in the area. The Verde River Greenway passes through Tuzigoot National Monument and allows hikers, equestrians and mountain bikers to experience Tavasci Marsh and the Verde River. Officials say it’s important to remember that certain regulations are in place to protect plants, wildlife and archaeological sites from human-caused damage. In the past year, employees have noticed more visitors engaged in illegal activities on National Park lands. Visit only during hours of operation, which are 8-am to 5-pm daily. Access to the greenway and ruin are prohibited after hours.
