Update on 4 lightning sparked fires on the Coconino National Forest

Coconino National Forest crews are conducting burnout operations on four lightning sparked fires. Crews are further establishing natural boundaries along the Bristow Fire southeast of Munds Park and the Chimney Fire northwest of Munds Park. Smoke may impact Munds Park, Mountainaire, Pine Canyon and I-17 today with smoke impacting Sedona tonight. The burnout operations are expected to continue through the weekend as crews work to suppress the fires. The Deer Fire is burning northeast of Kehl Springs Campground and is being used for management purposes. Officials hope the fire will treat 1,800-acres. The Seep Fire is northwest of Humphrey’s Peak with smoke visible along Highway-180. Crews will likely begin to suppress the fire on Thursday.
