Mom, Hiking With Her Husband & Daughters, Dies On A Sedona Trail

On Friday afternoon, YCSO Forest Patrol responded to a medical call on the Hi-Line Trail in Sedona.  A family visiting from Pennsylvania had gone out hiking and the 44- year-old mother passed out on the trail and needed medical attention.  Another hiker responded first and attempted life saving measures.  Then Sedona Fire arrived and continued life saving measures, but unfortunately it was too late.  After interviewing her two young daughters and her husband, it appears she suffered heat exhaustion was not treated fast enough.  No foul play is suspected.

YCSO strongly encourages you to be cautious when hiking in the Red Rock desert during the summer months.  The temperatures can be much hotter on trails that are along the rocks and have little shade.
