Prescott Valley man arrested after confronting his brother with a gun

Monday evening, Prescott Valley Police Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 5200 Block of Western Drive in Prescott Valley. Sgt. Jason Kauffman says the investigation revealed that 27-year old Steven Moya of Prescott Valley had driven to his brother’s, 30-year old Nathaniel Moya, residence on Western Drive to confront him about missing illicit and prescription drugs. Upon Steven’s arrival at his brothers’ house, he knocked on the front door of the residence, where Nathaniel confronted him in the front yard.  The two began to argue, and moments later, Steven Moya brandished a 9mm caliber handgun and told Nathaniel that he was going to shoot him in the leg for taking his drugs.Kauffman says a struggle ensued during which Nathaniel attacked Steven, and Steven’s gun fired twice and then jammed causing Steven to flee the scene. Kauffman says officers located Steven’s vehicle and conducted a high risk stop, taking him into custody without incident. Steven Moya was booked into the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility in Prescott on multiple felonies.
