Prescott National Forest crews responded to several lightning-caused wildfires over the weekend.  Officials say the majority were a single tree, less than 1/10 of an acre and extinguished by the rain. The largest one, the Stubbs Fire, started when a large dead-standing Ponderosa Pine tree was struck by lightning on Sunday in Camp Wood, 30 miles northwest of Prescott, on the Chino Valley Ranger District. That fire burned approximately one acre and required a helicopter and two fire crews to extinguish. As monsoon activity increases, lightning strikes will become more common keeping fire resources busy. Overall, 50 lightening caused wildfires were reported over the weekend.
