Last October, YCSO arrested 48-year-old James Haynes when he used his vehicle to crash through two gates and then into a camper trailer occupied by a woman who had an order of protection against him. Haynes then lit his vehicle on fire and crawled underneath the trailer attempting to gain access through the floor. This quickly caused the trailer and residence to ignite. All residents of the trailer were able to evacuate safely, however multiple structures were fully engulfed. Propane tanks and ammunition began to rapidly explode. YCSO found Haynes hiding under the trailer and arrested him. The investigation found that Haynes had multiple violations of the order of protection and harassment charges.
Haynes agreed to a plea deal with the Yavapai County Attorney’s Office and was sentenced to a total of 15 years in prison for Arson of an Occupied Structure, Arson of Structure or Property, and Criminal Damage per Domestic Violence.
