YCSO Detectives Solve Fraud Case While Investigating A Different Fraud Case

In December 2023, Yavapai County’s Criminal Investigations Bureau became involved in a fraud case involving 49-year-old Marylee Moore of Camp Verde. Moore worked as a purchaser for an insulation contractor in Cornville, who called YCSO after learning that prior to her termination, Moore had used the company credit card to defraud the company out of over $14,000. Marylee Moore was arrested and booked into jail on those fraud, schemes, and theft charges.

During the Cornville investigation, YCSO detectives learned about another fraud case involving Moore that had occurred several years prior in Camp Verde. Moore had been the store manager at Earnie’s Smoke Shop (Mini Mart) and had been fired from that position as well. The lead detective was able to determine that Moore had defrauded that business out of more than $307,000.00 dollars. Moore was subsequently charges with fraud schemes, theft, aggravated taking identity of another, and forgery.

“Our deputies and detectives understand that offenders who steal from our local citizens and businesses are depriving those victims of their earnings from weeks or even years of hard work,” said YCSO Sheriff David Rhodes. “This type of crime is unacceptable, and I’m proud of our deputies and detectives who worked diligently to solve not only one case, but two”.
