Verde Valley Fire District officials say since the start of their fire ban on April 20th, they have responded to 12-wildland fires and 1-vehicle fire that turned into a wildland fire. They say most of these were extinguished quickly thanks to citizens calling 9-1-1 as soon as smoke or flame was spotted. Officials also say in the same time frame they responded to 8-building fires. Local Fire and Law enforcement officials continue to encourage citizens to be on the lookout and follow the principles of One Less Spark, One Less Wildfire.
