Sedona Runaway Stuck on Side of Cliff Requiring Rescue

On Saturday around 5:45 pm, YCSO responded to a report of a juvenile who had run away from Sedona Sky Academy. It was reported that the juvenile was last seen walking down Montezuma Avenue.  Less than an hour later, YCSO Dispatch received a 911 hang-up from the Beaver Creek area and then had additional callers reporting hearing someone yelling for help. Deputies responded to that area behind Beaver Creek gas station and learned that the juvenile had fallen down a small cliff and was about 150 feet down from the top and 50 feet up from the bottom – and uninjured from her own words. Copper Canyon Fire attempted to repel down to rescue the juvenile but did not have enough rope, so a DPS Ranger helicopter was called in.  The Ranger was able to rescue the juvenile with no further issues, cleared by medical on scene and returned to Sedona Sky Academy.
