Public health is urging the public to keep cool and hydrated as some of the hottest temperatures of the year are expected Wednesday through Saturday. Cottonwood and the Verde Valley will experience highs of 103, Wednesday, 105, Thursday, 104, Friday and 101 on Saturday. Temperatures will drop out of the triple digits by Sunday. Officials say never leave a child or animal in a vehicle; stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water; avoid being outside during the hottest time of the day; wear loose-fitting, light weight and light colored clothing; take frequent breaks in the shade if you have to be outside and make sure your animals have plenty of water if they’re outside. Prescott will be in the mid 90’s for the remainder of the week with Flagstaff in the mid 80’s.
