Congress Elementary District Governing Board Appointments

Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter is pleased to announce the appointments of Kent McGrew and Kris Campbell to the Congress Elementary District Governing Board. The appointments are non-partisan by law.

These vacancies were due to a pair of unrelated resignations. The resignation of Board Member and former Board President David Zambrano, which was effective January 10, 2024, did not provide a specific reason for his departure. The resignation of Mrs. Patricia Fisher was effective January 11, 2024, and due to health reasons. We greatly appreciate the service provided to the school and the community by both individuals. They were both dedicated to meeting the needs of students and staff and are to be commended for their years of combined effort. Both appointments will be effective January 22, 2024, and expire on December 31, 2024. Both candidates have indicated they plan to run for these seats in the 2024 election cycle for new Board terms beginning January 1, 2025.

Mr. Carter posted a position in mid-December, seeking applications from interested and qualified individuals. Mr. Carter accepted letters of interest and held interviews of the qualified candidates on January 17th. He then spoke individually with elected members of the Governing Board, members of the school staff and administration, and several area residents prior to making the appointment.

Mr. McGrew is a multiple decade resident of Congress and previously served on the Congress Governing Board for twelve (12) years, with several of those being as the President. He holds both a Bachelor and master’s degree from Montana Tech as a Metallurgical Engineer.

Mrs. Campbell has lived in Congress since 2015 and has volunteered at the school for several years. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Sonoma State University of California in Business Management. She has previously served as a substitute teacher in the Vail Unified School District in Tucson and held the position of Director of Business Services and as an Assistant Superintendent in two California School Districts.
