On Friday afternoon, YCSO responded to a call from a man who reported he had been shot the prior night and was at his motorhome with a worsening wound. Deputies and EMS arrived at his home in Cottonwood to confirm that he was suffering from a gunshot wound that entered in the groin area and traveled a short distance down his right thigh and lodged in that location.
The man stated that he had been out on Ogden Ranch Road the previous day and had encountered two males along the trail. He said he got out of his vehicle and one of the males shot him. He stated he did not call for medical or report this the previous night because he initially thought the bullet had only grazed him, but the injury got worse throughout the evening.
The man was flown to Flagstaff Medical Center and after surgery is in stable and good condition.
The investigation continues, but YCSO does not believe there is any threat to the public relating to this case.
