Drivers on I-17 Plan For Nightly Lane Restrictions in Both Directions

The Arizona Department of Transportation reminds motorists to plan for overnight lane restrictions on Interstate 17 during the upcoming week. The restrictions will begin Sunday, Aug. 27, and end the morning of Friday, Sept. 1, as work on the I-17 Improvement Project between Anthem Way and Sunset Point continues.

Drivers should allow extra travel time, drive with caution, and reduce their speed around construction personnel and equipment while the following closures and restrictions are in place:

Northbound

    • Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (left lane closed) between Anthem Way and New River Road (mileposts 229-232) nightly from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning the evening of Sunday, Aug. 27, and ending the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 30, for removal of temporary concrete barriers.
    • Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (left lane closed) between New River Road and Rock Springs/Black Canyon City (mileposts 232-242) nightly from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning the evening of Sunday, Aug. 27, and ending the morning of Thursday, Aug. 31, for earthwork.
    • Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (left lane closed) between New River Road and Rock Springs/Black Canyon City (mileposts 232-242) from 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, to 6 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, for earthwork.
    • Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (left lane closed) near Black Canyon City (mileposts 243-245) from 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, to 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 28, for installation of temporary concrete barriers.

    Southbound

    • Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (right lane closed) near Sunset Point (mileposts 252-251) nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. beginning the evening of Monday, Aug. 28, and ending the morning of Friday, Sept. 1, for electrical work.
    • Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (right lane closed) near Bumble Bee Road (mileposts 248-246) nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. beginning the evening of Monday, Aug. 28, and ending the morning of Friday, Sept. 1, for earthwork.
    • Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (left lane closed) near Black Canyon City (mileposts 245-243) from 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, to 7 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, for installation of temporary concrete barriers.
    • Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (left lane closed) south of Black Canyon City/Rock Springs (mileposts 241-240) from 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 28, to 7 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, for installation of temporary concrete barriers.
    • Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (right lane closed) near Rock Springs/Black Canyon City (mileposts 242-240) nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. beginning the evening of Monday, Aug. 28, and ending the morning of Friday, Sept. 1, for electrical work.
    • Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (right lane closed) between Rock Springs/Black Canyon City and Table Mesa Road (mileposts 239-237) nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. beginning the evening of Monday, Aug. 28, and ending the morning of Friday, Sept. 1, for earthwork.
    • Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (right lane closed) from New River Road to Anthem Way (mileposts 231-229) nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. beginning the evening of Monday, Aug. 28, and ending the morning of Friday, Sept. 1, for electrical work.
