Cottonwood may raise sales tax .5%

Tuesday night at 6, the Cottonwood City Council will meet to discuss raising the sales tax .5 percent. If the council agrees to move forward with the increase, public hearings will be held on August 7-th and again on September 4-th. The increase would help the city alleviate a $1.5-million deficit. Initially the council was considering a .65 percent increase.
