On Monday, at approximately 3:45 p.m., emergency crews responded to a structure fire in the area of North Dingo Lane in Chino Valley, Arizona. It appears the fire began on the exterior of the house, catching the roof eave on fire and extending into the attic.
An off-duty firefighter from Central Arizona Fire and Medical Authority (CAFMA) was in the area at the time and ran to help, demonstrating remarkable quick-thinking. Due to early detection and swift action, the fire was effectively contained until additional firefighters from CAFMA and Prescott Fire Department arrived. First-arriving crews gained quick access into the attic and extinguished the fire.
Fire crews remained on scene in hot and humid conditions to preserve damaged property and perform overhaul. One patient was transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center by Life Line Ambulance; there were no injuries to fire personnel. This fire is under investigation.
