Jerome Fire responded to a serious injury accident on Perkinsville Road Sunday morning. Once on scene crews discovered a vehicle had left the roadway and rolled approximately 250-feet down an embankment. The driver of the vehicle, a 15-year old male, suffered minor injuries and was able to get out of the car and hike back up the hill for help. Crews used a rope system to reach the passenger, a 60-year old male, still trapped inside the vehicle which was resting on its roof. D’Evelyn says the teen told deputies an approaching vehicle caused him to move closer to the right side edge of the road to avoid a collision and then he over corrected sending his vehicle off the roadway and down a steep hill. DPS Ranger Helicopter responded and transported the 60-year old to a Phoenix area hospital with critical injuries. The teen was taken to VVMC for treatment of his injuries. YCSO was investigating the cause of the crash. No names have been released.
