Coconino County Sheriff’s Office and Flagstaff Police Department are conducting evening and early morning air patrols throughout the greater Flagstaff area. Coconino County Sheriff’s Office officials says the goal of these patrols is to increase wild land fire prevention efforts. Officials say patrols from an aircraft provide an additional method to help locate campfires and other potentially illegal activity. Information from these patrols will help first responders on the ground more quickly locate and respond to potential fire hazards. Officials say this method of patrol has proven to be effective in in the past. Air Patrols are expected to continue until fire threats are mitigated or fire bans are lifted.
