2/9 Tonto National Forest firefighters responded to the Bonita Fire Saturday. The fire was burning west of Bonita Creek in Payson. Forward progress of the fire had been stopped by 6-pm Saturday with 20-acres burned. The fire did force the evacuation of Bonita Creek for the duration of the incident. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
