Kaibab National Forest officials say upon further examination of Forest Roads 461 and 462 in Mangum Fire area, it has been determined that both roads within Warm Springs Canyon remain unsafe for travel and will not be re-opened to public travel at this time. Forest Road 461 is closed from the Forest Road 462 junction east to gate and 462 is closed from Forest Road 22 east of gate at Warm Springs Lake. The upper portion of Warm Springs Canyon burned at moderate and high severity levels leaving little living vegetation to naturally stabilize the soil on the steep canyon slopes. Forest engineers are considering options to repair and reopen these roads safely for the public. Recreationalists are asked to use caution in the area.
