ADOT is advising drivers the I-40 Meteor Crater Rest Area east of Flagstaff will remain closed to all drivers through September. The closure is needed as crews rehabilitate and repave the rest area’s parking lot. The rest area has been closed to the public since January. The renovation project, located at milepost-235, also includes upgrading the facilities electrical, mechanical and water/wastewater systems as well as site improvements. The nearest traveler facilities are in Flagstaff and Winslow during construction.
