With the first West Nile human Case in 2021 reported in Pinal County and several in Maricopa County, including 1-death, the Yavapai County Health Department would like to remind the public to protect themselves from mosquitoes, which will be more prevalent with all the moisture received this monsoon. Officials say to avoid mosquito bites, make sure to apply insect repellent when outdoors and be aware of peak mosquito hours, which is early morning and dusk. To prevent them from breeding, make sure to drain anything outside that can hold water, including old tires, empty flower pots and birdbaths.
