Wednesday afternoon, Prescott Fire responded to an apartment fire in the 1000-block of Sandretto Drive. Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the attic, but no fire. Spokesman Conrad Jackson says firefighters found an area where insulation had caught on fire and was still smoking. He says they determined that plumbing work in the attic caused the fire. Soldering of pipes was the likely cause. Jackson says crews were able to keep the damage to a minimum and the family was able to stay in their home.
