Tuesday evening, Sedona Fire responded to a scooter on fire on Highway-89A. Crews arrived on scene to find the fire had already been extinguished by a bystander. The owner of the vehicle was able to escape without injury as it burst into flames. Witnesses at a nearby restaurant reported there were large flames shooting from the scooter. Officials say the vehicle was equipped with lithium ion batteries that retained heat and continued to present a hazard that required constant cooling for about 30-minutes. Crews conducted clean-up and helped the citizen remove the wreckage from the roadway. No other injuries were reported.
I would like to speak with the guy riding the scooter again. As I was putting out the fire and keeping the remainder cool as possible with a 5gallon jug of spring water until Sedona Fire arrived, I noticed he said it had a new portion of batteries just applied.
I want to know who built it. I have seen a few fires now with electric vehicles, thou nothing like gas fires.
My investing mind what’s to figure out why it happened, thou I have a pretty good educated guess to why already.
