This week, within a 24 hour period, NAU and Flagstaff Police received three separate reports from internet extortion victims. Officials say, in each case, a male befriends a woman on Tinder who requests they converse and chat using Kik. Once on Kik, she asks the male to take a picture of their face and genitals and send them to her. Once the pictures are sent, she demands $300-$400 in iTunes gift cards or she will post the pictures online. Some victims have sent money and then received requests for more money. Officials advise citizens to be very careful when dealing with unknown persons on the internet or social media apps.
