Swift water rescue in Beaver Creek Tuesday night

Shortly after 6-pm Tuesday night, Copper Canyon Fire, YCSO and Search and Rescue began looking for someone that had been calling for help. The 911 caller reported a person clinging to a tree in Beaver Creek. Searchers looked for over an hour before a deputy spotted the person on the creek bank more than a half-mile from where their calls for help had been heard. The victim was extricated from the creek bottom and then taken to VVMC for treatment. Flash flooding is common this time of year, especially when we have warm storms drop rain on the snow in higher elevations. Flash flooding occurred along Oak Creek last weekend and both the Verde River and Beaver Creek are seeing higher water. “Turn Around…Don’t Drown”.
