The National Weather Service in Bellemont says a low pressure is shifting east across southern Arizona this morning, with widely scattered and generally light showers from Flagstaff southward. Only light snowfall accumulations are expected over the higher terrain of the White Mountains. A more significant system is still on track to hit the state this weekend with rain and accumulating high elevation snow expected. Showers should spread eastward during the day Saturday, with the event peaking Saturday night into early Sunday. This should be a wet storm, with liquid accumulations from 0.75 to 1.25 inches possible, especially along and south of the Mogollon Rim. Snow levels are currently forecast at or above 7000-8000 feet for most of the day Saturday, but falling to around 5500-6500 into Sunday. General snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches are anticipated above 6500 feet through Sunday morning, with higher amounts above 7500 feet. For Monday into the middle of next week, an unsettled pattern continues with the chance for showers each day.
