The annual Peregrine Falcon closures are scheduled to start on the Prescott National Forest. Spokesperson Debbie Maneely says closures on Thumb Butte and Granite Mountain in Prescott will go into place on February 1-st. The closures restrict climbing and other activities on the cliff faces of both mountains. Both sites have been consistently occupied by peregrines annually for more than 21-years. The goal is to provide the peregrines a breeding area with little to no human disruptions. The closures will remain in place until July 15-th.
