Highway shoulders are no place to park to play in the snow

The Flagstaff region saw an increase in traffic over the weekend for people wanting to play in the snow. Officials say motorists should expect increased traffic when heading to areas to play in the snow, especially along Highway-180 in Flagstaff. Motorists should leave prepared to spend more time than you may expect in winter weather. Officials say highway shoulders are for emergencies only, so resist the temptation to stop to play in the snow. Exit highways and park in designated areas. When returning from sites along Highway-180, you may want to consider making an earlier start home.
