Highlands Fire gets new extrication tool with GOHS Grant.

The Highlands Fire District was recently awarded an Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Grant allowing for the purchase of a new extrication tool. Fire officials say the Hurst Combi SC 358, a combination cutter and spreader tool, commonly known as the Jaws of Life, allows firefighters to remove patients who may become trapped in their vehicles, and is critical to saving community members and visitors lives.

The new tool costs around $13,000, weighs just under 33 lbs. and can provide over 13,700 lbs. of force.
