1/6 Sunday, the Gila County Sheriff’s Office put Christopher Creek, Hunter Creek and R-C Scout Camp on “SET” evacuation status due to the Horton Creek Fire. The Horton Fire remains 17% contained with over 3,500-acres burned. Still on “SET” status are the communities of Tonto Creek Estates, Tonto Christian Camp, Tonto Fish Hatchery, Kohls Ranch and Zane Grey Cabins. A public meeting is scheduled for 6-pm tonight at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on West Ashby Apple Drive in Payson. The meeting will also be livestreamed on the Tonto National Forest Facebook page.
