The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to plan for overnight lane restrictions throughout the I-17 Improvement Project corridor during the upcoming week. The restrictions will begin the evening of Monday, Dec. 9, and end the morning of Saturday, Dec. 14, as work continues on the I-17 Improvement Project between Anthem Way and Sunset Point.
Drivers may experience a rolling closure in the work zones during the hours listed below. This involves traffic traveling slowly behind a two-lane operation.
Drivers should allow extra travel time, drive with caution and reduce their speed around construction personnel and equipment while the following restrictions are in place:
Northbound
- Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (alternating right and left-lane closures) near New River Road (mileposts 231-232) nightly from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning the evening of Monday, Dec. 9, and ending the morning of Friday, Dec. 13, for bridge work.
- Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (alternating right and left-lane closures) south of Black Canyon City (mileposts 238-240) nightly from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning the evening of Monday, Dec. 9, and ending the morning of Friday, Dec. 13, for bridge work and traffic shifts.
- Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (left lane closed) near Black Canyon City (mileposts 243-244) nightly from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning the evening of Monday, Dec. 9, and ending the morning of Friday, Dec. 13, for bridge work and electrical work.
Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (left lane closed) south of Bumble Bee Road (mileposts 245-248) from 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, to 6 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, for relocation of temporary concrete barriers.
Southbound
- Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (left lane closed) near Sunset Point (mileposts 253-252) nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. beginning the evening of Monday, Dec. 9, and ending the morning of Saturday, Dec. 14, for electrical work.
- Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (right lane closed) near Bumble Bee Road (mileposts 248-247) nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. beginning the evening of Monday, Dec. 9, and ending the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 11, for placement of temporary concrete barriers.
- Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (left lane closed) near Black Canyon City (mileposts 245-244) nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. beginning the evening of Monday, Dec. 9, and ending the morning of Thursday, Dec. 12, for electrical work.
- Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane (alternating right and left-lane closures) south of Black Canyon City (mileposts 239-238) nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. beginning the evening of Thursday, Dec. 12, and ending the morning of Saturday, Dec. 14, for bridge work.
