Coconino National Forest and BLM Virtual Meetings Regarding Mining in Oak Creek Canyon

10/16 The Coconino National Forest and BLM will host 2-virtual public meetings to give residents and visitors a chance to learn more about the ongoing Oak Creek Canyon subsurface withdrawal. The Forest Service and BLM is proposing a 20-year extension of the withdrawal. The Coconino National Forest recently submitted a subsurface withdrawal application for 10,024-acres in Oak Creek Canyon to continue protecting the area from the potential adverse impacts of mining. Virtual meetings will be held tonight and again on November 6-th, from 6-to-7-pm each night.
