10/11 Glen Canyon National Recreation area officials say algae blooms have been reported in different areas of Lake Powell. Certain species of algae and phytoplankton can produce toxins that may cause illness in humans, pets and wildlife. Officials ask that the public to stay out of the water if an algae bloom has occurred. This includes swimming and boating.
