9/4 Tonto National Forest officials say the West Fire, burning 4-miles northeast of Pine, is 0% contained with crews focused on protecting values at risk. Those values include the private lands and the communities of Camp Geronimo, Geronimo Estates, Bray Creek Ranch and Pine. Infrastructure values at risk include powerlines, forest service roads 300, 218 and 64 as well as Highway-87. Officials say smoke from the West Fire may be visible in the surrounding areas for many days. The West Fire was caused by lightning on August 28-th. This fire is being managed within pre-determined boundaries.
