8/1 Tonto National Forest officials are asking boaters at Bartlett Lake to keep close to shore, especially if they see firefighting aircraft skimming water from the lake. Two Super-Scoopers are using Bartlett Lake as a water source over the next couple of days as crews continue to suppress the Sand Stone Fire. The planes, which carry up to 1,400-gallons of water at a time, will approach the lake at approximately 100-mph and are unable to maneuver away from any boaters once they begin skimming. The public is also asked to keep drones grounded in the area.
