Prescott Man Arrested for Public Sexual Indecency

On June 19, 2024, at approximately 9:00 A.M. Prescott Police Officers responded to Acker Park located at 421 S. Virginia Street after an adult female victim reported an adult male suspect masturbating near the trail inside the park.

The victim was able to provide a detailed description of the suspect who appeared to have left the area prior to the officer’s arrival. Officers canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspect at the time.

On June 20, 2024, the original case officer observed a male subject matching the description of the Acker Park suspect, in the area of Sixth Street and Alarcon Street. The officer contacted the subject identified as 23-year-old Prescott resident, Elijah Martin. Martin was found to have a valid arrest warrant out of Maricopa County for several charges including Indecent Exposure.

Martin was taken into custody for the warrant. Further investigation, including a photo lineup with the victim as well as other evidence found in Martin’s possession, confirmed that he was in fact the suspect from Acker Park.

Martin was booked into Yavapai County Jail on charges of Public Sexual Indecency, Indecent Exposure, as well as the warrant out of Maricopa County.

The Prescott Police Department is aware of ongoing complaints regarding public sexual indecency at Acker Park. This behavior will not be tolerated. The Prescott Police Department will maintain an increased presence to help deter and arrest anyone engaged in criminal behavior.
