Prescott To Honor The Granite Mountain Hotshots 11th Anniversary

On June 30, 2013, 19 members of Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew lost their lives battling the Yarnell Hill Fire.   The City of Prescott and the Prescott Fire Department, will remember the Granite Mountain Hotshots with commemorative events and activities to mark the 11th anniversary of the tragedy, and celebrate the completion of the memorial sculpture at the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza.

Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11:30 am  – Granite Mountain Interagency Hotshot Crew Learning and Tribute Center 6th Birthday Celebration featuring comments from Prescott Fire Chief Holger Durre and Mayor Phil Goode, and a performance by the Central Arizona Pipe and Drum Corps.  The Center is located at the Pine Ridge Marketplace, 3250 Gateway Blvd.

Sunday, June 30, 2024 at 3:45 PM – Dedication of the Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial on the Yavapai County Courthouse Plaza.  The City of Prescott and Prescott Fire Department will officially thank the committee that worked for over 10 years on the memorial statue which will forever honor our fallen heroes. There will be comments by Mayor Phil Goode, Yavapai County Board of Supervisors Chairman Craig Brown, the artist Deborah Fellows and a keynote by Prescott Fire Chief Holger Durre.

Following the ceremony, Yavapai County Courthouse bells will ring 19 times at 4:42 p.m. in honor of the fallen heroes.  The commemoration will take place at the memorial site, on Cortez between Union and Goodwin.
