Below is a summary of the sizes and locations of signs allowed within the City of Cottonwood for the July 30, 2024, election:
On Private Property: Signs of up to 6 square feet in size may be placed on private property no sooner than 60 days before an election and must be removed within 15 days after. Signs cannot be placed without the permission of the property owner. May 31, 2024, is 60 days before the July 30, 2024, election.
In City Right-of-Way (except in Political Sign-Free Zone): Per state law, signs may be placed in City-owned right-of-way no sooner than 71 days before an election and must be removed within 15 days after. They cannot be larger than 16 square feet in residential zones or 32 square feet in other zones, and cannot create a hazard, obstruct visibility, or interfere with requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). May 20, 2024, is 71 days before the July 30, 2024, election.
Political Sign-Free Zone: Signs cannot be placed in rights-of-way in the adopted Political Sign-Free-Zone (Main Street from Highway 89A through Old Town to the Clarkdale town limits; see attached map).
In State Highway Right-of-Way (Highways 89A and 260): Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) regulates signs in state right-of-way.
