Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter has announced a vacancy on the Mayer Unified School District Governing Board. This is a nonpartisan seat and appointment. The opening was created due to the resignation of Board Member Becky Young, who did not provide a specific reason for her departure. We greatly appreciate the service that Mrs. Young has provided to the school district and the community. The resignation is effective January 22, 2024.
In order to be eligible to hold this seat a person must; be a registered voter within the school district, be a citizen of the United States of America, be at least 18 years of age, possess their civil rights, have continually resided within the school district for at least one year immediately preceding taking office, and they or their spouse may not be employed by the district, or working for the district on a third party contract.

Deadline for receipt of letters of interest is Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Mr. Carter will interview finalists at Mayer School District on Thursday and/or Friday, February 15-16, 2024. The appointment should be announced by Tuesday, February 20, 2024, and be valid upon taking the oath of office, through December 31, 2024. A person who wishes to serve beyond that date, will need to run for the seat in the 2024 election cycle for a new term beginning January 1, 2025.
