On Monday, September 11, 2023, at approximately 11:15 a.m. the Prescott Valley Police Department investigated a shooting incident between two men that occurred at the 8300 Block of State Route 69 in Prescott Valley.
The incident began as a verbal argument between the two men, then quickly escalated to a physical confrontation when punches were exchanged. One of the men, later identified as Nathan Alan Fleitz, 40, of Prescott Valley, then discharged a handgun, striking the other man in the abdomen.
Medical personnel responded to treat the injured man. He was transported to Yavapai Regional Medical Center East for air evacuation to a Phoenix Area Hospital, where he is currently in stable condition.
Fleitz fled the scene on foot and was later found in the 3200 block of Tani Rd. in Prescott Valley, where police apprehended him without incident.
No police officers were injured during the incident or during the apprehension of the suspect.
