On Sunday September 10, 2023, at just after 5 o’clock in the evening, the Prescott Regional Communications Center received a call from a reporting party advising that they heard several gun shots in the area of the 800 block of Second Street in Prescott. Officers from the Prescott Police Department and the Yavapai Prescott Tribal Police Department responded to the area to investigate the report.
Upon arrival the officers were directed to one specific house by those who reported hearing the gunshots and upon approaching the house they observed an adult female exit the structure with a firearm and she pointed at the officers. Two officers from the Prescott Police Department fired their weapons striking the suspect.
The suspect was treated on scene by officers and members of the Prescott Fire Department and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The suspect later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased.
Per policy, this investigation has been turned over to the Department of Public Safety Major Incidents Division.
