In the later afternoon of Thursday, 08/17/2023, the Cottonwood Police Department was alerted that a suspect with an active felony warrant out of Yavapai County was inside a residence in the Pine Shadows Community of Cottonwood. Officers responded to the home and attempted contact with the individual. Negotiators were able to establish communication with the suspect, who refused to surrender. The Verde Valley Regional SWAT Team responded to the scene. Negotiators and SWAT members deployed tactics that eventually led to the suspect walking out of the residence and being taken into custody. The suspect was booked into the Yavapai County jail on charges related to the felony warrant.
