Chino Valley Announces Deputy Police Chief

Town Manager Cindy Blackmore announces the selection of Joshua McIntire for the newly created position of Deputy Police Chief with the Chino Valley Police Department. The promotion of McIntire, who currently serves as a Lieutenant, is effective August 20, 2023.

As the department grows, adding the additional leadership position of Deputy Chief is an important step for the Town to manage the department’s diverse public safety and community service roles,” said Town Manager Blackmore.

Deputy Chief McIntire stated that he is “humbled to have been selected and excited for this opportunity to serve his community in this role.” He said he looks forward to continuing to bring his expertise and passion for public safety to the Chino Valley Police Department and the Town of Chino Valley. He plans on maintaining a close and transparent relationship with the Chino Valley citizens and hopes to increase the police department’s effectiveness through advanced training and community involvement. Deputy Chief McIntire added, “I am very proud of the men and women of the Chino Valley Police Department, their unwavering dedication, and their unmatched work ethic. It is truly an honor to serve alongside them to ensure our citizens receive the best possible service. The future looks bright for both the town and police department!”

After graduating from the police academy in 2002, McIntire served as a sworn peace officer for local law enforcement agencies in California prior to being hired by the Chino Valley Police Department in January of 2016. Throughout his career, Deputy Chief McIntire has held many positions rising through the ranks. He became a Lieutenant on the Chino Valley team in 2020. He received awards for Meritorious Conduct, Life Saving, Officer of the Month on two occasions, and was recognized by the State of California for Auto Theft Recoveries as well as receiving multiple other departmental and community commendations. Deputy Chief McIntire holds a Bachelor’s Degree from California State University of San Bernardino, a Master of Science degree in Business Management/ Leadership from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and graduated the FBI-LEEDA Leadership Trilogy program. In addition to spending time with his wife of 20 years and his two children, McIntire enjoys cooking, spending time outdoors and donating time to local organizations.
