I17 Restricted at Times North of Sunset Point in Coming Weeks

Interstate 17 restricted at times north of Sunset Point in coming weeks for pavement improvement work.

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for lane restrictions on Interstate 17 in areas between Sunset Point and the scenic overlook north of the State Route 179 exit to Sedona through early September.

Drivers should allow for extra travel time while the following daytime restrictions are in place from 1 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday:

Northbound I-17 will be intermittently narrowed to one lane:

Aug. 14-18 (mileposts 305 – 312)

Aug. 21-25 (mileposts 252 – 258)

Aug. 28-Sept. 1 (mileposts 258 – 303)

Southbound I-17 will be intermittently narrowed to one lane:

Aug. 14-18 (mileposts 296 – 311)

Aug. 21-25 (mileposts 264 – 280)

The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.

No work is anticipated to take place on the weekends.

The restrictions are needed so crews can safely complete pavement repairs along this section of I-17. The schedule for pavement improvements is subject to adjustment as the work progresses.

ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution at all times around maintenance personnel and equipment in all work zones.
