The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for daytime lane restrictions on State Route 64 Wednesday, July 12. The lane restrictions will be about five miles south of the entrance to the Grand Canyon National Park South Rim.
Drivers should allow for extra travel time while the following daytime restrictions are in place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.:
- SR 64 will be intermittently narrowed to one lane only with alternating north- and southbound travel near the Ten-X Campground (mileposts 233 – 234).
- Flaggers will guide traffic through the work zone.
- The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.
- Drivers should be prepared to come to a complete stop when approaching and driving through the work zone.
The restriction is needed so crews can safely conduct geotechnical work along this stretch of SR 64.
