SR 260 Closing East of Payson From Midnight – 2 a.m. Saturday

Moving an oversize load will require a two-hour full closure of State Route 260 east of Payson starting at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, July 1.

Lasting until 2 a.m., the closure will be near Christopher Creek between Concord Road and Rim Road/Old Rim Road (mileposts 277-282). Culvert repair work the Arizona Department of Transportation is performing in this stretch has limited SR 260 to one lane in each direction with an 11-foot width restriction in each lane.

Those planning to take SR 260 east from Payson or west from Heber-Overgaard during this two-hour closure should consider delaying travel until 2 a.m. Those traveling between the Phoenix area and the White Mountains during this time may consider US 60 as an alternate route. Drivers heading to or from Interstate 40 in Holbrook can take SR 87 to and from Winslow.

Real-time highway conditions are available on ADOT’s Arizona Traveler Information website at az511.gov, the AZ511 app, calling 511 and through ADOT’s Twitter feed, @ArizonaDOT.
