Tuesday afternoon, Summit and Flagstaff Fire were dispatched to a report of a chimney fire at a home in Fort Valley. Arriving units found smoke coming from the chimney towards the back of the house. Crews extended water lines to the front door and then onto the roof fully extinguishing the fire inside the wooden chimney box. Occupants of the home escaped without injury. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Everyone is reminded to get their chimneys inspected and cleaned properly before use.
