Prescott woman charged with second degree murder in last month’s shooting

YCSO arrested 43-year old Shannon Jackson of Prescott for second degree murder for the shooting of Sterling Wade Peters on December 27-th. Spokesperson Kristin Greene says the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute in the Ponderosa Park area. She says Jackson told detectives that during the argument, she retrieved a .357 Magnum revolver off the floor of the house and fired two shots at Peter; one struck him in the side and the other in the chest. Greene says though Jackson had originally claimed she shot Peters in self-defense, interviews and physical evidence were not consistent with self-defense and was more properly categorized as a second-degree murder offense.
