Copper Canyon Fire conducts Swift Water Rescue of person that drove into flooded crossing

Christmas Eve, Copper Canyon Fire responded to a swift water rescue call in the area of Kimberly Way and Cornville Road. The report stated a vehicle had been washed down stream with one occupant inside. Crews found a small passenger vehicle with one occupant on the roof of the vehicle about 300-feet from the creek crossing in fast moving water. Crews were able to contact the person by phone to make sure they were not injured and to give instructions to stay on the vehicle until rescuers were able to get to them. Crews were able to rescue the person and bring them safely to shore. Motorists are reminded to not drive in flooded washes. “Turn around Don’t Drown”.
